Due to our fondness for equestrian activities, athletic ability was the starting point in our love for the Arabian horse. In spite of this, the only activity in the 80`s for this breed was the show ring, where they were exhibited either in halter classes or under saddle.
The Argentine Arabian Breeders Association eventually organized a program of long distance rides, in which we obtained very good results. In the following years, a program for sport driving began to take shape and became an important activity for us. In the 90`s the AACCA created a Racing program for the breed in the San Isidro, Palermo and La Plata race-tracks. (This activity was familiar to us due to our previous experience with Thoroughbreds in which we obtained a few prizes). As with the Thoroughbreds, we were also successful with our Arabians in this sport.
At the end of this past decade, Endurance was introduced in Argentina with the F.E.I. (International Equestrian Federation) and it is in this sport that we discovered that the Arabian horse is capable of proving its natural racial qualities of rusticity, endurance and stamina, intelligence, wonderful disposition, docility and submission.
We proudly mention international achievements in this sport, such as three world speed records, in 2004 and 2005, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Our horses RO SAAD, on 120 kms., and RO NILO (alias SUPER) and the most famous RO FABIOLA, both on 160 kms. were trained in the Al Wathba Stables. |
